Good morning, Monday and a new week!
Today we hope the weather develops according to the forecasts — from a grayer and duller start at the summit to partly cloudy or even clear conditions. Don’t be fooled by the mild temperature in the valley; higher up on the mountain the wind makes itself known, along with some moisture in the air… brrr. Ski carefully due to the variable visibility, and be prepared for possible drifting snow on the slopes.
Uffes and Branten remain open, but the previously reported avalanche risk still applies. Cracks and releasing snow are detected daily in our steeper slopes — therefore always carry a shovel, probe, transceiver, and ski with a partner if you plan to head off-piste.
Despite some recent replenishment, all previous hazards such as excavation edges and similar features remain — they are now simply harder to detect under a thin layer of fresh snow. So far, this winter has been characterized by a lack of precipitation and cold temperatures. Our grooming team has worked hard to gather the available snow to build slopes and lift tracks.
NOTE!! – A thin and unstable snowpack means that off-piste terrain is not as it usually is right now. There are more exposed rocks than in many years, and previously smooth sections may now be steep with terrain traps at the bottom. For skiing outside the ski area, please refer to Lavinprognoser.se. The ski touring route has not yet been marked this year, as there is currently no safe way to establish it — all uphill ski touring within the ski area is prohibited. The Nordal lift is not operating at the moment; we are working to get it running. Because of this, the Vinkel lift will operate all day until 16:00. From the Vinkel top station, a marked traverse track with pale orange poles will guide you back to the Blueberry slope. The Katterjokk lift is closed, but snowmobile transport is available during the lift’s operating hours.
