You’ll find a true sense of freedom when the mercury drops far below zero. Far up in the north, in the northwestern corner of our country, the mountain peaks spread out around Riksgränsen. Here you’ll find a sparkling mecca for everyone who loves the feeling of snow under their ski boots. The feeling of whooshing down an untouched slope, with fresh, ice-cold air in your lungs, is something you’ll only find here. Haven’t been here in the winter? Then you’ve missed the real show. Have you been here before? Then you already know that this place is more addictive than anything else.

Hello fellow golfers! We are so happy to finally welcome you to the golf course here in Björkliden, even though this year’s season start is a little different. Unfortunately, the winter has been unusually harsh on our course, which has resulted in a late start and some challenges with the greens. But we are working incredibly hard every day to get the course back into top condition!

SJ NIGHT TRAIN – EARLIER TICKET RELEASE

SJ has now released tickets for travel over Christmas, New Year’s, and the winter sports holidays. You can now book SJ’s night trains for trips to Björkliden and Riksgränsen until March 8, 2026.

PRESERVING THE SNOW IN BJÖRKLIDEN

The climate also affects our ski resort in Björkliden. While we still experience snow-secure winters, we’re seeing greater variations in snowfall amounts and timing between seasons. This winter brought heavy precipitation, and by the season’s end we had 22,000 m³ of snow in Teknikbacken. We’re now preserving that snow over the summer for the 2026 season. By storing the snow, we aim to secure our opening date and ensure quality, slopeside skiing—regardless of weather conditions.

We are delighted to announce that the iconic Meteorologen Ski Lodge in Riksgränsen will open its doors for the summer season, welcoming guests from June 23rd to September 14th, 2025.

Take the train to us

With SJ (Swedish Railroads), you can travel by night train from Stockholm all the way to Riksgränsen. Choose if you want to book a seat, travel in a couchette car, or buy a ticket to a sleeping compartment—the night train has two departures every day in both directions. Make it easy for yourself and take the train! It’s the most climate-smart way to travel.

By flight

By flight – There are daily flights from Stockholm and Copenhagen to Kiruna Airport, followed by a 90-minute transfer. Alternatively, you can fly to Evenes Airport and drive for 75 minutes. Arriving in Riksgränsen via the E10 is equally beautiful from both directions.

By train

By train – Get on the train in the evening in Stockholm or Gothenburg and wake up in a fantastic mountain environment the next day. You’ll arrive in Riksgränsen around lunchtime. SJ operates the route, and the journey between Stockholm and Riksgränsen takes about 18 hours. You can also take the Arctic Train from Narvik, Norway’s northernmost railway line, through breathtaking arctic landscapes with panoramic views of mountains and fjords. The train station in Riksgränsen is located in the heart of the village, just about 150 meters from Meteorologen.

By car

By car – Drive E4 north, turn left in Töre and then continue on the E10 towards Kiruna and Narvik. You’ll find us just before the Norwegian border.

Riksgränsen is a special place, with a long and special history. The amount of snow that once depopulated the village now attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors. And now the mountains, lakes, and views also attract summer visitors.

Hotell Riksgränsen offers a fantastic mountain experience with ski-in/ski-out and lovely views. The restaurant and the service are high class. However, the spa was somewhat loud and messy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Martin – 25 April 2025
