Three-day ski touring course

If you enjoy skiing, mountains, and physical activity, then ski touring might be for you! Ascending the mountain at a relaxed pace, enjoying nature along the way, and then choosing your own untouched line down is hard to beat for many. The area around Riksgränsen and towards Norway is one of the country's best for ski touring, with countless really good tours where the ascent begins almost directly from the road. Here you'll find plenty of fantastic descents and amazing inspiration, and the view is like something out of a fairytale with fjords, the horizon, and mountain peaks as far as the eye can see. Are you a stable skier with no or limited experience of ski touring, but with a curiosity to explore skiing beyond the lift systems? Then this course is for you!

During our three-day ski touring course, we'll cover everything from an equipment review and a theoretical introduction to ski touring to a shorter tour to ensure all equipment is functioning correctly, followed by two full days of skiing where we'll explore the surrounding area and practice our technique further! Below you can read more about how the course schedule might look:

Day 1 – 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Day one we'll go through the program for the different days, get acquainted with the equipment, and cover safety equipment and other theoretical information we'll need during the course. After this indoor session, we'll head out on a shorter summit tour where we'll test that the equipment works, learn more about the safety equipment, and go through basic techniques.

Day 2 & 3 – 09:00-16:00

The second and third days of the course take us further into the mountains in Riksgränsen and other areas. We start with a short morning meeting, where the guide updates about the day's weather forecast and snow conditions, before we head out for the day's tour. The ascent will be at a calm pace, adapted to the group's energy level, allowing time to discuss essential aspects of ski touring, such as skinning techniques and route selection. Somewhere along the way, we'll stop for a lunch break. When it's time to turn back, we'll remove the climbing skins, lock our heels, and find the best line down towards the car for the day, before heading back home to Riksgränsen to conclude the day.
