The Pelikan Flight is a Big Air competition (jump competition) that takes place at the so-called Pelikanhyllan (Vid hotel complex/Lobby Bar). The Pelican Flight is more of a ”session” and a celebration than a strict elite competition. The name comes from the classic ”Pelican Jump” – a large snow jump built just below the outdoor seating area, allowing the audience to sit with a drink in hand and watch the riders fly by up close.

Notification

Takes place in the Sports Information in the lobby. Minors require a guardian's signature. Participation in the competition is free.

How does the competition work?

  • Format: It's usually a jam session. That means the riders have a certain amount of time to do as many jumps as they want.

  • Assessment Judges often look at a combination of difficulty, style (steeze), and landing, as well as progression. There are usually classes for both skis and snowboards, and sometimes a special junior class.

  • Mood The music is loud, there's a speaker, and often the crowd is really into it. It's not uncommon to see costumes or more spectacular ”old school” tricks.

Competition Rules

  • Minors must wear helmets.
  • Everyone is urged to wear a helmet for your own safety.

An unforgettable experience!
